Women, men cope differently with pain
The study found that in all cases,women are more likely than men to suffer from pain or illnesses. It was found that sixty-one per cent of women suffer form headaches compared to just 38% of men; 70% get colds compared to 59% of men and 21% experience backache compared to 12% of men. When asked how they would rate their response mechanisms to illness, men were more likely to regard themselves at 'battlers' (56% compared to 48% of women). Women were more likely to regard themselves as 'fussers', who will try anything and everything to relieve symptoms. It was found that women who suiffer from a headache are also more likely to take a painkiller compared to men. The research was carried out by Neurofen. [Posted: Mon 10/12/2007] |
