Migraine information day

The Migraine Association of Ireland is holding an information day in the Clarion Hotel, Liffey Valley on Sunday, May 20 at 2pm.

Migraine affects approximately 400,000 people in Ireland and is the country's most common neurological disorder.

Migraine cannot be cured, but it certainly can be managed, according to Peter Murphy, CEO of the Migraine Association.

"If you suffer from migraine, the first step is to learn about the condition and how it can be managed. The information day is a great opportunity to do just that and also to meet and share experiences with other people with migraine," he said.

The keynote speaker at the meeting will be consultant neurologist Dr Brian Murray, who will speak about the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of migraine.

Frank Kennedy, teacher of the Alexander Technique, will speak on 'posture and pain' while pharmacist Catriona Brennan will offer advice on the safe use of medications.

The talks will be followed by a Q&A session with the panel, chaired by Migraine Association president Audrey Craven.

Places should be reserved in advance. Admission is €10 or €7 for Association members. Children are free and light refreshments will be served.
